Our client, the Samoa Tourism Authority, is pleased to share that His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty Queen Camilla graced the STA Cultural Village with their esteemed presence as part of their Royal Visit to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) meeting. Their majesties were warmly welcomed by the vibrant community providing them with an immersive experience into the rich cultural heritage of Samoa.
The visit offered a wonderful opportunity for their Majesties to witness first hand, some of the traditional practices that form the bedrock of Samoan culture. They were privy to the creation process of some of Samoa’s most esteemed artifacts, including the intricate weaving of the fine mats (ie-Samoa) the art of carving, elei design, and siapo making.
One of the most significant highlights of the visit was the interaction with the community members spanning various age groups. The genuine warmth and hospitality extended by the community resonated deeply with King Charles and Queen Camilla, fostering a meaningful dialogue and deeper understanding of our culture.
CEO of Samoa Tourism, Toleafoa Pativaine Petaia-Tevita said she is deeply grateful for the opportunity to host their Majesties and the opportunity for the cultural village to be included in their royal visit. “This royal visit has a profound positive impact on our cultural village and the tourism sector as a whole. It has provided us with a unique opportunity to showcase our traditions, our people, and our hospitality. We believe that the impressions made during this royal visit will resonate far and wide, attracting more visitors to our shores and boosting our tourism industry."
