We are excited to announce the grand reopening of the iconic Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows in #BeautifulSamoa, following a multi-million dollar renovation totaling USD$8.5 million. This landmark reopening brings a fresh, modern vision to the legendary property, fusing the rich cultural heritage of Samoa with contemporary design to create a dynamic space for both relaxation and productivity.
First opened in 1933 by Samoan entrepreneur Aggie Grey, the hotel quickly became a hub for international visitors, especially American servicemen during World War II, and over the years has garnered a loyal following from global celebrities, including Marlon Brando. Today, Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s is recognized as one of Samoa’s most iconic hotels, offering a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comforts.
A Vision Reimagined
The hotel’s extensive renovation, led by a team of visionary architects and interior designers, thoughtfully preserves the essence of Samoan culture while introducing a modern aesthetic. The design features a harmonious blend of traditional island motifs and contemporary elegance, showcasing the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and the hotel’s prime waterfront location.
The design’s use of natural earth tones, rich wooden textures, and sustainable materials—including eco-friendly woods and natural fibers—adds warmth and authenticity to the hotel’s atmosphere. Elements like the Samoan tapa cloth patterns incorporated into various design features provide guests with a distinct cultural experience, while a remodeled lobby evokes the spirit of the traditional Samoan fale (bungalow) with its open, welcoming layout.
World-Class Accommodation and Dining
Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows boasts 175 spacious accommodations, including 149 guest rooms, 23 private bungalows, and 3 suites—each with private balconies or patios offering stunning views of the pool and harbour. Guests are greeted by a beautifully restored facade and an enhanced arrival experience that sets the tone for a luxurious stay.
The hotel’s celebrated dining options include the newly reopened Feast restaurant, offering international cuisine, a daily buffet breakfast, and themed buffet dinners throughout the week. Guests can enjoy freshly brewed coffee and tea at the Tea House located in the lobby, or unwind with expertly crafted cocktails at the Lobby Bar. For a refreshing swim and relaxed ambiance, the resort’s lagoon-style pool with a swim-up bar is a standout feature.
For corporate and social events, the resort offers more than 500 square meters of versatile meeting and event space, including executive meeting rooms and a grand ballroom, making it an ideal destination for conferences, weddings, and special occasions.
A Legacy of Hospitality
Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows stands as a testament to Samoa’s hospitality legacy. Cluster General Manager Mr. Sunil Rawat, who has been recently promoted to oversee the Sheraton Samoa Resorts portfolio, brings 21 years of experience in the hospitality industry across India and Australia. He is eager to welcome guests back to the newly transformed hotel, saying, “While we honor the legacy of Aggie Grey, this renovation ushers in a world-class experience that showcases the timeless beauty of Samoa and positions the hotel as the grand jewel of the island.”
Mr. Rawat added, “Sheraton’s global positioning as the world’s gathering place is particularly relevant for us, as Samoa’s original gathering place. We are proud to provide a space that reflects Samoan hospitality and international standards, welcoming both local and international guests.”
A Royal Welcome
In recognition of its prominence, Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows recently had the honor of hosting His Majesty, King Charles III, and Her Majesty the Queen Consort during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. The exclusive by-invitation-only event, which included roundtable discussions and plenary sessions, was a testament to the hotel’s status as a key venue for important international events.
The reopening of Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows marks a new chapter in the hotel’s storied history, offering a unique fusion of heritage, luxury, and community-focused experiences. Guests from around the world can once again enjoy the island’s warmth, beauty, and world-class hospitality at one of Samoa’s most iconic destinations.
